Land Conflicts Rip Families from East to West

Last week, News-Hapa received a report that an LC III chairman in one of Kapchorwa's subcounties had broken his own father's leg in a fight over the family's land. Today, we have received yet another report, this time from Kasese, indicating that yet another father was seriously injured by his own sons in yet another fight over land.

The victim in the latest reported incident is Gerald Muhindo, a 45 year old resident of Kyalhuma sub-county in Kasese. Muhindo has spent the last three months in Kagando Hospital after his sons descended on him and cut him severely. News-Hapa contributor, Sentamu Tadeo reports that Mihindo is recovering from the injuries.

Before he was incapacitated by this incident, Muhindo served his subcounty as a Community Knowledge Worker, an ordinary farmer who offers agricultural advise to others with the help of a smart phone set up with specific applications that hold the information.
