HIV-positive people in Kapchorwa want more than ARVs
People living with the human immuno virus (HIV) in and around Kapchorwa district are asking for more services than the antiretroviral drugs that they have access to, reports Stephen Kiplangat from Kween district.
The people living positively want to be given bicycles to ease their transport, and bags of rice. They say that is the norm at The AIDS Support Organisation (TASO) centre in Mbale district and other areas.
The Kapchorwa centre also serves Kween and Bukwo districts, and some people from Sironko and Amudat. TASO is an organisation that was founded to provide a platform to encourage those with the HIV virus to live positively and enhance health workers’ competence to manage HIV infection.
