Mentally-disturbed boy sets lodge on fire in Arua
Shock gripped administrators of Bala Guest House in Orom sub-county, Arua district, when they saw one of the guest rooms on fire. However, the fire was put off before it could spread to other rooms.
Robert Owake, a resident of Orom, quoted the manager as saying that the arsonist was a mentally-disturbed boy, identified as Ojok.
“He entered the lodge through the backdoor, with a matchbox and a bottle of paraffin, which he used to set the room ablaze,” the manager said.
Owake said when residents saw smoke billowing from the lodge, they came with water to put off the fire. Otim Charles, the proprietor of the lodge, has relocated the guests to another of his lodges within Orom as repairs are done.
The ease with which Ojok accessed Bala raises questions on the level of security in most of the places that offer lodging services.
