Arua mob attacks suspected adulterer

A man only identified as Alfred survived lynching last week by an angry mob over adultery. For long, residents had suspected Alfred to be in a relationship with a married woman. At the time of the incident, the woman’s husband was not at home.

On the fateful day, narrates Joe Wonder, a resident of Ofaaka sub-county, Arua district, two boys saw Alfred drinking local brew while seated on the woman’s bed. They got excited and locked the door, to call their older brothers. Little did they know that their excitement would attract a crowd to the home.

Joe Wonder said onlookers threatened to break into the house, if she did not open. A few minutes later, Alfred opened the door and took to his heels. He was arrested and beaten into coma.
