Feeder roads in Adjumani impassable
Feeder roads in Usikujone sub-county, Adjumani district, have become impassable due to heavy rains. This is a sharp contrast with the state of roads in the neighbouring sub-counties.
“Residents now have to contend with walking on foot or using motorcycles in Usikujone,” said Moses Ochaya, a resident. As a result, the bodaboda (motorcycle) fares have skyrocketed.
The state of the roads has left farmers in a dilemma because they cannot easily transport their produce to the market.
Two months ago, when residents of Kapteret sub-county, Kapchorwa district, had poor roads, they mobilised labour from the community and constructed a feeder road, passing through three villages. The road connects the residents to the area’s main market.
