Bean Insect Pests Out of Control in Yumbe

Farmers in Yumbe are battling without success, widespread attacks of bean insect pests. Gerald Andama, a farmer in Okuvuru sub-county , Olivu parish, reports to News-Hapa that the pests are out of control. “I have a plot [planted with beans] which has been destroyed. My neighbours’ too.”

He exclaims that use of the usual insecticide is not working. Farmers in the area usually communally hire a service provider to spray their combined fields in a single go. Although these have repeatedly procured this service this season, they have seen no alleviation in their bean pests problem, Andama explained.
